We went to Las Vegas to get some firewood from a guy that just wanted it all out of his backyard.

He had a pretty cool swimming pool.

That 'thing' in the right corner is this cool rock cave thingy that faces the water.

Like a lounge area and it would be great on hot days.

There was so much wood we had to put some in the back of the car.

As we were heading back across town we saw this crazy building.

It's some kind of brain research center.

December 29, 2014 Monday

Route 66 north of Kingman, Arizona

There were a lot of closed-up buildings and gas stations along the route.

Kind of sad.

This is an actual street (Rocky Top Road) in Grand Canyon Caverns subdivision.

Sunset near Kingman.  The road goes through that notch.

You can't tell but we're up pretty high and there was a beautiful view over the other side.

December 28, 2014 Saturday

We went for a hike today. 

We hiked on burro trails west from the campground.

Scott loves doing his mountain goat imitation.

And he also can't resist any patch of sand.

There are all these cool 'land bridges' that connect different ridges.

I played my piano outside for a while after we got back.

Scott likes to set it to different sounds and percussions.

Then he wandered off and ran around the yard with an empty plastic crate on his head.

Just before sunset we decided to have a campfire.

Scott and Steven have "archery practice" most days.

And we go for walks a lot of days.

This time we climbed the hill south of the camper.

December 26, 2014 Friday

Day after Christmas expedition to the city park.

Scott was so happy.  He ran up and threw his arms around Grandpa.

I've spent more time climbing, sliding, and swinging the past few years than

 I have in quite a few years!  lol

 

Oh oh!  The grandpa monster is reaching for Scott's legs as he runs across the swinging bridge!

Time for hot cocoa before bed. 

The kettle heats up nicely on our little woodstove.

December 25, 2014 Thursday

Merry Christmas!

Scott started by taking each thing one at a time out of his stocking

and organizing it in piles by what it was.

At the end he just dumped it.
