December 18, 2014 Thursday

Steven in a lower pool of the outlet stream at the hot spring.
The water is too cooled off for my likes down there, but
definitely not cold.

Just a view across the spring's drainage toward the lake.

Same view from a little farther over so I could get some palm trees in the picture.

Scott was skeptical at first, even though he played in here a lot last spring.

The hot pool.  The water comes out by the palm tree in the background, kind of on the left.
There are little exotic fish and some turtles in here.
You can see the beginning of the outlet stream too, in the foreground.

Scott edged more and more into the water.

Yup, starting to enjoy it.

Oh yeah, loads of fun!!!

No clouds to make a pretty sunset tonight, but this airplane trail was pink.

December 17, 2014

We're at the library right now, and I'm catching up the blog for the past week.
Scott loves Christmas trees.

He also loves the stuffed penguins at the library!

Grandpa and Scott worked on puzzles while I uploaded my pictures.

December 16, 2014 Tuesday

Scott has some of his own Christmas ornaments he picked out.  Some are train cars, so he lined them up on the couch, along with a toy police car in the train.  I think he put the police car in the line-up because that's how it was at the Christmas parade.

I couldn't decide which picture I liked best, so I put both on here.

We cleaned up a stove out of an old camper to put in our motorhome to replace the one with the non-working oven that came with our motorhome when we bought it (used).

There's me, scrubbing up the stove.

Scott ran around the yard with a sword in his hands, keeping me safe while I worked.

The 'new' stove is 4" taller (bigger oven), so Steven had to adapt the hole.

There is it!  Missing one burner ring, which got left in Montana.  I never use all four burners at once anyway, and I'm storing my tea-kettle on that one for now.
I'm just happy to have a working oven!

So the first thing I made was a homemade pizza!
That's about a 14" pizza pan.

After dinner Scott was watching a cartoon on DVD and Grandpa joined him.
For a short while anyway!  lol

December 15, 2014 Monday

Scott was being cute this morning with this backpack on his front as a chest shield, and
a sword shoved down the back of his shirt.

Brave young warrior!

These are t\e only pictures I took today.  We went for a bicycle ride today and did some clean-up around the motorhome, and just hung out around here today.

December 14, 2014 Sunday

It was muddy today after the rain we had Friday and yesterday, so instead of a bicycle ride we pushed Scott in the stroller.  He took his helicopter thingy along.

And he hugged it and told it that he loved it!

Strolling along the road about half a mile from our motorhome.

Scenery along the way.

Rare mushrooms.  You don't often get the right weather for them here in the desert.

The rock garden.  Someone works on this regularly and adds to it.  It's expanded a lot since we first saw it in 2010.  We don't know who they are and when they come.  Pictures don't do justice and don't show the size of it.

Scott and Steven standing near the top edge of the rock garden.

This rock "sculpture" is a fish.  It's about 8' from nose to tail.

A snake rock 'formation'.

Walking back to the motorhome.

If you look close you can see our motorhome down the road.  That's our campsite.

Our campsite.
Same one we had last year.
The bushes around us are Tamarisk, and they lose their 'leaves', which are feathery sets of needles.  When we first got here a couple weeks ago they were still green, and quickly turned yellow and fell off.  They'll start getting new needles around March.

In the afternoon I met a friend in "the city" and among the places we went was a chocolate factory and the adjacent "Cactus Garden", which is decorated for Christmas.

My favorite decoration: an inflatable camping trailer!

Me!

I know it looks like a jumble but in person, it is spectacular.

There were moving lights too, which of course you can't see in a 'still' photo.

December 13, 2014 Saturday

Scott and Grandpa played with Scott's remote control drone helicopter.

A sunny day after a couple of rainy days.

More of the same.
Except not all motorhomes have solar power, wind power, and a wood-burning stove!

A trip to Overton today.  This is one of our favorite stores.  They're more of a 'general store' without groceries.  They have almost everything else.

The laundry mat across the street, with soap bubbles painted on the side.
Some of these pictures are for us, to remember as years go by, or when
we're back in Montana.

The movie theater closed last winter.  The last movie was shown
on Christmas day.

The bank.

Scott in the car.

Scott being funny in the car.

Steven uses this chimney thing to start his charcoal.  Works pretty good.

Scott observes.

Boneless, skinless chicken breasts on the grill.

Adding spices.  Scott gets some too.  We just cut the bigger one down in size
and give him some.  We also had mashed potatoes and peas.

Sunset.  Not remarkable, but not bad, either.
